LOA: How Did You Do That?

Here's a tutorial on how I made this wallpaper. I use Pixelmator, which is a wonderful program for the Mac, but I think it translates pretty well with Photoshop. I know I can open .psds with Pixelmator, so I think they're pretty compatible.:

I will be recreating it, so it may end up looking slightly different. For this wallpaper, I used images of Kurt that all had a similar brown tone to them.

1. I started with a large screencap.

2. I duplicated the layer and desaturated the image.

3. I added a layer mask and selected the rectangle tool. On the masked layer, I drew a rectangle over a portion of Kurt's face. I used the paint bucket to color in the rectangle with black. This revealed a rectangular portion of the colored picture beneath.

4. Next I copied and pasted a smaller picture of Kurt in the upper left corner. This image I also duplicated and desaturated.

5. Once again, I added a layer mask, drew a rectangle and colored it in with black using the paint bucket.

6. I added a third picture at the bottom and repeated the procedure again.

7. Finally, I added the text Kurt Hummel, font Zapfino, size 96. I used the dropper tool to color it the same as Kurt's hair.
